If you haven’t heard Pusha T‘s remix of Drakes “Dreams Money Can Buy”, well now’s a good time to listen up. Pusha goes in hard with his verses, expressing a simple message: “Don’t Fuck Wit Me”.

Pusha T- Trouble On My Mind Feat. Tyler, The Creator

10 Jul

The highly anticipated collaboration of Pusha T and Odd Future’s front man Tyler, The Creator has just dropped. Teaming up to create “Trouble On My Mind” (Prod. By The Neptunes), this track will be featured on Pusha’s Fear Of God 2: Let Us Pray. Let me tell you right now, this track completely exceeds all expectations. Pusha T goes in hard on the first verse, followed by Tyler, The Creator who slaughters the next,  incorparting some familiar word play featured in his mega hit “Yonkers”. Well worth the listen and download!

XV- Zero Heroes

28 Apr

Donovan Johnson, better known as the american rapper XV, comes out of non other than Wichita, Kansas… definitely not the most well known city breeding hip-hop icons, but as they say, there’s always an exception to the rule. XV presents his new mixtape Zero Heroes which sounds more like a full blown album than anything. With awesome productions from well known producers such as Jus Blaze, J.Cole, and Seven. XV lays down his fast paced flow full of lyrical puns to make for more than a few jaw dropping moments. To add to the talent displayed by XV himself, there are plenty of great features on the mixtape including prominent artists like Pusha T, Kendrick Lamar and CyHi Da Prince. Get on this quick!

Hip-Hop Beats: Kanye, Atmosphere, A-trak

21 Oct

I’m sure you all were just itching for some Hip-Hop after listening to all that pounding techno music, so I decided to bring out some nice beats I came across. Despite the fact that he is representing our whole generation, this recent release “Good Friday” is quite the catchy, feel-good, tune that I’m sure will please the ears of new and veteran Kanye fans alike. Not to mention it features a number if notable artists…

Kanye West ft. Common, Pusha T, KiD CuDi, Big Sean, And Charlie Wilson- Good Friday***

Atmosphere had relatively been laying low since his last LP, “When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold” released in 2008. Last month, he released a combination EP, “To All My Friends, Blood Makes The Blade Holy: The Atmosphere EP’s”. This song, “The Loser Wins,” is certainly one of the many gems on the EP, and once you get by the first lyrics that will catch you off guard, it moves into the familiar Atmosphere style with a guitar driven beat.

The most recent release of this post is an A-trak song, “Ray Ban Vision”. It’s awesome how A-trak can go from producing Disco House songs like Barbra Streisand in Duck Sauce, alongside Armand Van Helden, to this Hip-Hop song. The lyrics that serve as the focal point of the song, “I got Ray Ban Vision” seem to creep into your brain and stay there for a while (not that it’s a bad thing). I feel this one’s got some potential, listen for yourself!

Since this is my first Hip-Hop post I thought I’d include something different. Here’s a Nike video that was filmed all around LA, but specifically right here in West LA Cnct’s home, Loyola Marymount University (check 0:53-1:08). Also, the song to this video is a classic by a LA native, Ice Cube, and if you don’t have it already, you should. (download link below video)
