Of Porcelain

5 Dec

So it’s Sunday morning and I’m not feeling too well. Thankfully, I have some coffee and great mellow music to help me recuperate. This mellow music I have been listening to is by Josh Mayer, who goes by the name, “Ooah,” and is also “1/3 of the infamous Glitch Mob, 1/2 of the elusive PANTyRAiD and all of the alias ‘Of Porcelain'”. He certainly has the credentials to make his own solo music and he does so very well with Of Porcelain. Josh combines guitar, strings, piano, and even some Glitch/Dubstep elements into his tracks which come together to make a soothing, beautiful work of art. It’s not everyday that you come across music that really embellishes the art form, and Of Porcelain does just that. In October 2009, Josh released the debut album of Of Porcelain, A Southern Summer’s Breeze, which you can name your price for and download on bandcamp. These are my favorites off the album, enjoy them as much as I do!

Major Lazer, Eskmo Dub Mashup

4 Dec

Kraddy has given us another banger.  For those unfamiliar with his work, Kraddy is a Los Angeles based producer, and one of the pioneers of the acclaimed Glitch Mob. Kraddy’s sound winds its way through many genre’s, but it might be best categorized as dub or glitch-hop. His genre blending skill is evident this lastest mashup.   Kraddy has taken the heavy dub track, “Agnus Dei”, by San Francisco producer Eskmo and added the catchy vocals of Major Lazer’s “Hold the Line.”  This mash gives Lazer’s high-flyin’ track some serious weight!  Kraddy is fervently stepping up, especially considering the very recent release of his  impressive EP, The Labyrinth. Nosaj Thing & The Glitch Mob

14 Nov

Hello everyone! My apologies for the lack of posting yesterday. I went on a little camping trip out to the wonderful, Joshua Tree. So, I just got back and I’m catching up on some music. What timing for a remix of a Nosaj Thing song to come out a couple of days after my post on him! Boreta, a member of the Glitch Mob, was asked to do a remix of Nosaj’s song “Coat of Arms,” and the result was a nice and heavy tune all in Glitch Mob style!

Glitch-Hop Remixes

12 Nov

Today is a great day simply because it’s FRIDAY! Here are two excellent Glitch-Hop remixes that I happened to come across on the wonderful soundcloud. The first is a pulsing remix of a Glitch Mob song by an artist named Gladkill, not to be confused with another Glitch-Hop producer, GK. The second is a worthy rendition of Stevie Wonder’s, “Superstition,” by Jobot, an artist from Studio City, California, just outside of Los Angeles. Check these out!

Glitch-Hop: GK

6 Nov

GK, Grant Kwiecinski, is a new up and coming Glitch-Hop producer whose music easily ranks among the best in the business, such as Pretty Lights or The Glitch Mob. He started producing at age 14 and it is evident that his talent will surely lead him to success. On his Facebook page, he notes that he likes to “smash up old swing and jazz samples then blast it all between Reason and Ableton and finish it with treble bass, laser, funk and soul flavor.” It is just the beginning of his career, so I recommend keeping an eye out for GK, and watch him blow up!

Pretty Lights: Glowing In The Darkest Night EP

23 Oct

Yesterday, Pretty Lights released his third installment, “Glowing In The Darkest Night,” of a trilogy of  EP’s this year. Derek Vincent Smith, who is Pretty Lights, has a very unique style that entails “glitchy hip-hop beats, buzzing synth lines, and vintage funk and soul samples.” He is undoubtedly one of the very best Glitch-Hop artists to ever grace this earth. I’ve included some of the better tracks on his newest EP, but be sure to download the whole thing (FOR FREE) at prettylightsmusic.com.

By the way, if you downloaded the Zeds Dead “Out For Blood” song in the “Bass!” post earlier this week, I updated the link with a better quality version, so I recommend swapping the files!
