PANTyRAiD- The Music’s Not Over

1 May

PANTyRAiD came out with a new EP last week! I haven’t had a chance to listen to the whole thing through, but I know this is a heavy dubstep tune worth posting. It reminds me of some Flux Pavilion, but it does have a unique sound. Check it out.

Rusko- Everyday (Netsky Remix)

23 Mar

Ever since I first heard that Rusko was getting Netsky on board for an “Everyday” remix, I haven’t been able to sleep at night due to my excitement. Netsky is definitely one of my favorite drum & bass producers and he further solidifies that position with taking the genre to new heights with this remix! Mark your calendars for the April 5th release of Rusko’s Everyday EP!

Dubstep: Kaza EP

18 Nov

Today is Thursday and so close to the weekend, yes! I have a good little dose of Dubstep for you all today, so I hope you give the music the respect it deserves with the bass cranked! Anyway, Equal Records just put out their first release ever with the Kaza EP. This is an awesome set of songs ranging from soft classically influenced Dubstep to the heavy wobbly grime that so many bass heads enjoy. Here are two my favorites off the EP! The full release can be downloaded here.

Kaza- Unforsaken***

Kaza- Forever

Pretty Lights: Glowing In The Darkest Night EP

23 Oct

Yesterday, Pretty Lights released his third installment, “Glowing In The Darkest Night,” of a trilogy of  EP’s this year. Derek Vincent Smith, who is Pretty Lights, has a very unique style that entails “glitchy hip-hop beats, buzzing synth lines, and vintage funk and soul samples.” He is undoubtedly one of the very best Glitch-Hop artists to ever grace this earth. I’ve included some of the better tracks on his newest EP, but be sure to download the whole thing (FOR FREE) at prettylightsmusic.com.

Pretty Lights- Drift Away ***

Pretty Lights- Out Of Time***

Pretty Lights- Gazing At The Glare***

If you like Pretty Lights, check out the L.A. natives, The Glitch Mob!

The Glitch Mob- Beyond Monday

By the way, if you downloaded the Zeds Dead “Out For Blood” song in the “Bass!” post earlier this week, I updated the link with a better quality version, so I recommend swapping the files!

Hip-Hop Beats: Kanye, Atmosphere, A-trak

21 Oct

I’m sure you all were just itching for some Hip-Hop after listening to all that pounding techno music, so I decided to bring out some nice beats I came across. Despite the fact that he is representing our whole generation, this recent release “Good Friday” is quite the catchy, feel-good, tune that I’m sure will please the ears of new and veteran Kanye fans alike. Not to mention it features a number if notable artists…

Kanye West ft. Common, Pusha T, KiD CuDi, Big Sean, And Charlie Wilson- Good Friday***

Atmosphere had relatively been laying low since his last LP, “When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold” released in 2008. Last month, he released a combination EP, “To All My Friends, Blood Makes The Blade Holy: The Atmosphere EP’s”. This song, “The Loser Wins,” is certainly one of the many gems on the EP, and once you get by the first lyrics that will catch you off guard, it moves into the familiar Atmosphere style with a guitar driven beat.

The most recent release of this post is an A-trak song, “Ray Ban Vision”. It’s awesome how A-trak can go from producing Disco House songs like Barbra Streisand in Duck Sauce, alongside Armand Van Helden, to this Hip-Hop song. The lyrics that serve as the focal point of the song, “I got Ray Ban Vision” seem to creep into your brain and stay there for a while (not that it’s a bad thing). I feel this one’s got some potential, listen for yourself!

Since this is my first Hip-Hop post I thought I’d include something different. Here’s a Nike video that was filmed all around LA, but specifically right here in West LA Cnct’s home, Loyola Marymount University (check 0:53-1:08). Also, the song to this video is a classic by a LA native, Ice Cube, and if you don’t have it already, you should. (download link below video)
