Michael Cassette- Memories (90’s Piano Mix)

3 Dec

Michael Cassette is a project in which two guys are involved: Erkka Henrikki Lempiäinen & Matti Tapio Heininen. They produce Progressive House out of Helsinki, Finland. I believe they have made this fictional character “Michael Cassette” to not confuse the public in regard to their music. They formulated a story about a producer that, for personal reasons, has chosen not to be in public. Michael has no contact with his audience except through his music, and he even authorized his record label to act on his behalf if communication was necessary. That’s A bit strange if you ask me, and that’s because Michael doesn’t actually exist, it’s Henrikki and Matt! They came out with their debut album, Temporarity, November 29th, and it has been received very well with it reaching the number 5 spot on the U.S. iTunes Dance chart. I love this song, “Memories”. It has an awesome upbeat piano melody that’s really catchy. Check it out!

I think some producers use this strategy to not confuse the public in regard to their music. For example, Above & Beyond, which is a trance act, use the name OceanLab for a project in which they release vocal trance tracks (in collaboration with singer-songwriter Justine Suissa). Some other artists also use different names for side projects. If the project is successful, they go on with it. If not, they dump it without any damage to their reputation.
