Xaphoon Jones recently came out with a new mixtape. I briefly went through the tracks, some were good, some were okay, but these are the ones that stood out the most. Check these out and you ca pick up the whole thing here!
It’s been far too long since I’ve heard the boss from the Ville, J.Cole, come out with a sick track. Withdrawal symptoms were getting at me. Check out J.Cole’s first single, “Killers,” from his promotional mixtape, The Glorification of Gangster. Make sure to listen close to the lyrics because not many have better concepts in hip-hip than Roc Nation’s finest, J.Cole.
This tune is off of The White Panda‘s latest release, Pandamonium. What’s not to like about a mash up of the classics, “Steal My Sunshine” and “Clint Eastwood”! There is even some rap verses thrown on top. Check it out.
Childish Gambino just released his own version of Kanye West’s mega hit “All Of The Lights”. The beat is somewhat of a mellowed down version of Kanye’s, starting off with an acoustic guitar. Nonetheless, the creativity of this production along with Gambino’s signature lyricism makes it an ill track worth having.
OFWGKTA members Domo Genesis and Hodgy Beats just recently released their version of Wu-Tang Clan’s “Liquid Swords”, entitled TANGGOLF. I’m glad they chose this beat because honestly, I haven’t heard many that can compare. Get on this quick! Free Earl.
Yo WestLA crew! Sorry I havn’t thrown up too many posts recently, I’ve been pretty busy lately. I promise to be back in action soon! In the spirit of our newest and greatest contributer, ShartNasty, here’s a legitWiz Khalifatrack I’ve been jammin’ to. It has an awesomely mellow feel and a catchy hook. Kick it and enjoy.
Shout out to my boy Dashel for showing me this. The feature artisted, 19 year old LA artist Hugh Augustine the MC, delivers some FIRE with an awesome track complemented by some dope cinematography. Check more of him out at hughthemc.net
It’s only right that WestLaCnct reps artists coming straight from its hometown of California. Pac Div, a hip-hop group from just north of Los Angeles, consists of brothers Like and Mibbs, along with BeYoung. The three together create this dope mixtape “Mania”, sponsored by Don Cannon, with original raw productions as well as some classic 90’ hip-hop covers. Definitely worth the download! KiD CuDi is coming out with a new summer mixtape called, A Man Named Scott. He put out a brand new tune, “Capcom,” that you can check out below. In other news, KiD CuDi announced on his tumblr that he is quitting smoking marijuana and doing all drugs. Here is his statement:
I dont smoke weed anymore. Ill leave it to the kids. Im 27 with a business to run and i need to be alert and focused with my mind strong. For those who still get it on, smoke one in my memory as your favorite lonely stoner. This is not a joke. I know most of you wanna see me all drugged out and fucked up and i know misery loves company, but im sorry those days are over. I had a good run, Amsterdam and all. Im happy being sober. Im happy being a new me. Giva fuck who thinks of me different, you didnt care about me in the first place if you cant be proud and happy for me for growing and starting a new chapter. Im not your puppet or your tap dancing drug addict here to be your miserable muse, i always made music for me to help myself find understanding. I have finally learned from the words in my songs. I love who loves me and who really cares about me.
Coming out of Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2008,Das Racistis one of the most diverse and unique hip-hip groups I’ve heard in a while. Comprised of Queens- born Himanshu Suri (aka Heems) and San Francisco- born Victor Vazquez (aka Kool A.D.),Das Racist is best known for their hilarious sense of humor, unconventional style, and obscure references; rapping about, among many other things, being brown and Pizza Hut/Taco Bell. Regardless, these Jokesters are no Joke when it comes to hip-hop, and even have support from notable artists like Diplo and Scoop DeVille. Check out these tracks from their mixtapes “Sit Down, Man” and “Shut Up, Dude”. Some fire. Shoots.

Donald McKinley Glover, Aka rapper/producer “Childish Gambino” is proving himself to be one of Dopest new artists coming up in current hip-hop game, although he’s definitely no rookie to the entertainment industry. As a NYU grad and a current hired actor and writer for Comedy Central, working on popular hit shows “30 Rock” and “Community”, Gambino incorporates his intellect, experience, and talent to craft hip-hop music soaked with a unique combination of slick lyrical content on top of beats that slap so hard your ears will probably start bruising after a few listens. Definitely need to get on this guy’s D*#$…No homo. For starters, check out his latest mixtape “EP” and one of his earlier projects “Culdesac”.
I recently came across this quality cover of “In For The Kill”. Kelsey Wild did a great job with transforming this originally electronic song into more of a singer/songwriter type tune. I posted some heavy stuff today, so I thought I would provide some chill music to ease you into the week!
